Spring Kickoff
01/13/12 06:49 AM
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season!
I just thought that I would send out an email to update everyone on some things regarding the Softball Program.
--MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
Tuesday, February 7th: Player and Parent Meeting
7pm Room: D-24 (Mrs. Rice's Room)
Mandatory for ALL players. Also, one parent must accompany each player.
TOPICS: Spring Season, Budget, Fundraisers, New Field, Uniforms, Etc.
Friday, March 2nd and Friday, March 23rd: Marathon Game Fundraiser
6pm-8pm on the new field
We plan on holding the event on March 2nd, but if we have field delays, the event will be held on March 23rd.
Please reserve both dates just in case. This will be the biggest fundraiser for our program.
ALL players are required to attend and participate.
There will be more details discussed at the player/parent meeting.
Thank you to everyone who helped with the Fall fundraisers.
The wristband sales were quick and easy money for the program.
The car wash booklets were a huge hit!
Spirit Wear helped a lot also.
We were short $675 in our Fall budget and these fundraisers helped cover that amount.
I still have 14 booklets left for the car wash fundraiser. Since I had to pre-pay for them, we need to sell them to get our money back.
For each $20 booklet, we get a $10 profit.
If you need booklets, please let me know how many. Also, since I pre-paid, I will need to collect cash or a check from you when I give you the booklets. We have until the end of the month to sell the 14 booklets and wrap up the fundraiser with the car wash company.

Spring Budget Info:
After sitting down 3 or more times and crunching numbers, Coach Jeff has cut the Spring Budget to bare bones since we do not get any school funding. We have also had some unexpected expenses come up. (Outfield Fencing, Batting Cage Netting, Bleachers, etc)
To run our program, we would need $800 per player to come out even for Spring. Since that amount is way too much to pay to play a sport, we have cut that number in half. We are asking for donations of $400 per player for Spring and the other $400 per player will hopefully be raised by fundraising. (Last season was $450 for JV and $550 for Varsity) so $400 sounds fair. We are not allowed to demand a payment, but we are hoping that each family will give a donation check in the amount of $400 to cover a portion of the expenses. If each family even gave $100 per month or $200 at a time, we would appreciate it. Heck...I'll take $25 or $50 here and there!
Any amount will help the program. All donations are tax deductable also....
We will review more at the Player/Parent Meeting.
Well, that's it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions or need car wash booklets.
(all checks are payable to: HBHS Softball Boosters)
