Summer 2010

Summer has finally arrived and I hope everyone is doing well.

A reminder, HBHS softball camp will be tomorrow. Camp is for all new incoming players and 2010 JV players.  Returning varsity players are not required to participate (but are welcome to come)

For those JV/Frosh/New players that don't attend, I'll have a one day tryout in mid October to complete our Junior Varsity and Varsity rosters for 2011. In order to have the best chance to make our JV or Varsity teams (we only graduate 7 seniors for our 2010 team) you will need to participate in the following camps this summer.  In addition, we will be playing fall games (Varsity in winter 2010 and JV/Varsity in early Jan. 2011) and from the participation this summer, those teams will be filled out.  If you can only make certain days, please let me know.

Summer/Tryout Camp Dates:  6/21 - 6/24 and 6/24 and 6/28 and 6/29.  Time: 2:00 pm  — 5:00  pm each day at Worthy Field.  Costs for HBHS players that played in the program last year will be $75. Checks made out to HBHS Softball Booster Club.   We will be playing Edison HS on 6/24 and Marina on 6/29.

In order to participate we will need an Emergency Form filled out and returned. (Attached)

We will also be holding a Summer Conditioning sessions for all players in the Softball program including returning Varsity, JV, and selected new Frosh players.  This camp is not optional if you plan to play in the program in 2011.  I do realize we are all busy with summer plans, vacations, tournaments, other sports, etc and we will work with the athlete but in order for you to be considered for a team, the players efforts to attend is required.  This camp will be held twice a week (days, times and camp costs will be determined after tomorrow meeting with Monica and you will be notified Monday night)

We would like to start this camp during the week of June 28th and will conclude on Aug 13th.  The three week softball dead period (per CIF) will be August 16th till school start for our program.

I want ALL our girls to play as many sports as they can .. I also know some of you have very intense travel ball programs during the summer. However, it's critical that I can begin the evaluation process this summer.  Please keep the communication open between the girls and myself and if you have decided not to play to be considered for a spot for the 2011, please let me know so we can remove you from the list.

Any questions, please call me.

Looking forward to a successful 2011 for Oiler Softball

Regards,

Jeff
